Yesterday we visited this place, just down the road from us. I used to go into the grounds when I was a kid and it was a fantastic place - convent then, so full of scarey nuns.
Yesterday was a bit of a disappointment for me. Tower and other bits ok, but I could not see the point of restoring the (Sham) Bridge and then having a dry lake-bed which was an eysore, full of brambles etc. Also I felt at times that I knew more about the place and it's history than the guides. When I made a few comments they looked at me as if I was making it up. Mind you I did then have to explain to Mrs Tel what the Stations of the Cross are all about - the grounds have the stations dotted all around, with carvings in each.
