Enter the 1st, 5th and 7th characters of your password
« on: September 20, 2010, 08:29:45 AM »

You know the thing when you have purchased something online and you have to pass through the additional security checks. This should of course be distinctly different from your other 20,000 passwords, pin numbers, favourite film / colour / 1st school / mothers maiden name etc.

So you get to the screen and it asks you to randomly choose the 2nd, 4th and 7th characters, or the 1st, 3rd and 6th etc .

You can guarantee that every time though I will have to work this out using my fingers to ensure that the correct sequence is entered. The finger abacus is never used except in such situations but I feel such a plum sitting in front of a puter screen counting on my little pinkies  redface:

Look on the bright side, being from Somerset you have the advantage of being able to count up to 12 using that method.  whistle:

When I get asked this over the phone I invariably can't remember. I usually tell them to ask me another and end up with the old Mother's maiden name standby.

The online ones are a nightmare; the number of mini post-it notes just to my right is approaching double figures  noooo:

EEEZ SEEMPLES!

Take name of first love, add her birthday in numbers and letters. That is my password for bank accounts etc and for Pin Numbers I always use her DOB and nobody but she and I could ever know them.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

I always use the 'create new password' option...

Write down some random shite, pick out first, fifth and ninth or whatever.

Job done. Simples.  happy088

Well, smarty pants (pl.), one account I have requires Personal ID, Passcode, and Registration number ... all different, all requiring a mix of numbers and characters.. so that wouldn't work  evil:

Some-one asked when my birthday was. I said 28 March. He said "what year?" I said "Every year, stupid"
