Them: "Can you confirm your Date of Birth/Telephone Number etc?"

I have a stock response

"Yes I can, tell me what you think it is and I'll confirm whether your information is correct"  eveilgrin:

'THEY' never get it.  point:

I then patiently and sarcastically explain the difference between "Confirming" and "Telling".

It's a small victory against the ignorant but makes me feel better every time  cloud9:

You know the thing when you have purchased something online and you have to pass through the additional security checks. This should of course be distinctly different from your other 20,000 passwords, pin numbers, favourite film / colour / 1st school / mothers maiden name etc.
