You've only been off the booze for about a week ...... how the hell has a box of wine gone off in that time?

Inside the box is a collapsible bag. When you open the tap on the box external pressure forces the wine out of the collapsible bag and the bag gets smaller as a result .... thus no air gets into the bag and the wine should stay drinkable for at least a month. After that it will tend to go either sugary round the outlet or it will taste "vinegary". The wine "pumps" seen on many a pub bar actually only connect to a wine box under the counter .... red being served at the ambient temperature and the white has a pipe from box to pump running through a small chiller unit. I have had red and white "on draught" for months when it was not selling and apart from the sugar deposits collecting in the pipe it never went off.

I suspect that you have been buying local cheapo wine that was already on its way out before you even opened it.

You could've said...I would have put in a order request. I'm only down the road, you could have give it to the West Mercia boys and I could have collected it at Strensham...

Don't tell me you thought that pubs had it in barrels, each freshly tapped in time for your arrival.

No, 'spensive French stuff like...

No guarantee as to how it has been stored here of course... the local wine is stuffed full of sulphides to preserve it in the Cyprus sun...
