The all new University of the 3rd Age thread

I am thinking of checking out the local one. Mort is making overtures to his.

Surely they can't all be slightly ga-ga sandalistas, can they?

Most of those around here are!  point:

One chap I know who went along, just after he retired, found himself in a room with a bunch of people over the age of 80 .... he didn't go back.

Probably a fair percentage.  eeek:

I've contacted two groups asking for more info. The woman I spoke to at the Harlow U3A certainly sounded ga-ga, I guessing she's the mother of the membership secretary.

"Life Long Learning" is the theory ...... It is mainly full of boring old tossers wanting to get out of the house, looking for affordable entertainment.

TBF It is claimed that it helps people adjust to life after work and also delays the onset of dementia. Should suit Nick.  ;)

I did take a serious look at it but honestly the subjects on offer here were so awful I decided against it. An atrophied brain struck me as a better option.
