You were lucky, Mrs K has watched all of the processions bit, thankfully fast forwarded much of the actual ceremony.

Did it really have to be simulcasted on BBC1, BBC2, BBC News Channel, ITV1, Sky News, CNN, NBC, Talk TV and GN News?

Seems bizarre to me... If you wanted to watch it you'd presumably choose a channel with no adverts, not sure why the others don't offer alternative programming...

... my sister took the opportunity to go shopping (in Worthing) and has send me pics of the empty shops!

Now this is a reboot I wasn't expecting, James Clavell's Shogun. I remember being hooked on the Richard Chamberlain adaptation when I was a kid.

I'm hoping it doesn't turn out to be another case of adapting the story for modern audiences in the same way Wheel of Time and others have been but at least visually it looks pretty much spot on for the Edo period and they show the Tokugawa clan so I'm cautiously optimistic.
