Life planning
« on: November 19, 2010, 12:37:05 PM »
The ex Lodger was telling me about a mutual mate yesterday. His wife (age 40) died last year after a long illness. This guy has a business plan for each year which he always achieves. Apparently his plan for 2011 is to find a new wife and the plan for 2012 is to start breeding again.

Does this strike you as odd?

Which part, you having a mate surrounded by illness and death, or the business plan?

Doesn't strike me as odd.

I guess he has had a rough time with his late wife. Caring for a terminally ill person no matter how much you might love them is a tough thing to do. The person who is ill will often be angry and feeling guilty about their partner seeing them looking dreadful/in pain or catering for their basic needs.  The carer often feels angry and guilty.  The whole relationship would have changed. Their sexual relationship would also have changed.

Coming out of the other end of that and wanting to have a 'normal' life would seem pretty appealing IMHO.

As you have said, he always achieves his yearly plan so I guess for him it's not odd. Of course he might end up in a panic at year end and have to resort to a mail order bride. eeek:
