If you contact BT they will prolly try to sell you their TV/Broadband package but with persistence you ought to be able to get them to sort the problem at no extra cost.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

And yes I have tried calling BT help(less) desk.

The trick is that every time you get options just keep banging away at the 0 button and eventually they connect you to a human. I find about 10 to a dozen taps on the 0 button is enough.

Easy enough if it is a "stud" wall but not so simple if it is one of the original brick jobs.

Try an extension cable first ~ they are cheap enough to buy and see if you can place the router somewhere else in the room with improved results.

If you go for the drilling option then you'll need the extension cable anyway.





PS That is a phone extension cable BTW.




PPS I have a number of them spare, I could post you one.
