MP3 player advice needed

The Boy wants an MP 3 player for Christmas. I am staring at the Amazon range and there are thousands of the buggers. Main decider appears to be storage capacity.
What is the optimum storage size???

Bigger the better then ~ can't ever have too much music like  angel1
