That's Towoomba right?  I've had this in from a friend in Queensland this morning:

Quote
It is just so devastating.  The authorities are now saying that it is quite possible that the missing will never be found.  There at least 12 that they are pretty sure are dead that so far have not come to light.
It is all just so awful.  I had bought a brom* on eBay and the person I bought it off apologised that it might not arrive on time.  It turns out that she lives in Towoomba, had just seen on TV her nephew and his family winched of their roof by helicopter, her brother and family in a refuge, and had been unable to locate the rest of her relatives and friends in the Lockyer Valley.  So who cares less about a brom?  Anyway, she was right, all mail has ground to a halt as it all goes through Brisbane and even if it got that far, as you know the whole area is now a disaster.  The road at Rockhampton is now open and the supply delivery trucks can move north again.  So that is something...

*Broms are orchids.

You've gotta admire the Aussie spirit. I had another email in late last night (early this morning their time); Over 12,000 people volunteered on Saturday to help out with the clearing up, that's not counting the affected residents and the ones who didn't register to do it but turned up!
