Migrane attacks
« on: July 23, 2007, 01:37:06 PM »
I've been suffering more and more of these recently. They just suddenly come on and render me inoperative for anything between 5 and 30 minutes usually. No headache at all, just highly restricted vision with moving shimmering brightly coloured jagged shapes and a fuzzy 'ed.
More annoying than anything else, and a good excuse for a little lie down. ;) but I appreciate it needs sorting.
Trouble is that it comes on so quickly, that taking anything wouldn't have time to counteract it. Had an attack while havin' me cornflakes this morning. Ended up scooping the keys off the keyboard. ::)

Anyone else suffer, and recommendations please, cus it's startin' to get RIGHT on my tits now. eveilgrin:

See your Doctor ASAP!

It may be nothing other than stress or a reaction to medication ~ which could be quickly sorted BUT on the other hand it sounds very much like it might be serious. Only your doctor will be able to tell you
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

eeek: I think perhaps you should be! Even I'm on two lots!

Migranes of that rapidity generally need a preventative measure. No idea what as mine are few and far between and I take something as they hit.

I agree that you should visit your GP just to confirm there's nothing serious.

It does sound like a visual migraine, I get them occasionally.

Mine start as small visual aberration in the centre of my vision which expands as a ring of zigzag flashing until it disappears at the edges of my visual field, takes about 10 minutes. Never any headache though.

The first time it happened when I was in my early twenties it was very scary but once I'd been told what it was I became relaxed about them.

I haven't had an attack for a couple of years now.

My mother suffered from terrible migraine attacks for most of her life. I strongly agree with the dog that you should get to see your doctor who can prescribe appropriate preventative medicines.

I agree, see a doctor without delay.

I suffered migraines for years but they where extremely painful, I am always very suspicious when there is no pain involved in any kind of condition as I see is as a way of making you stop what you are doing and pay attention.

I don't get any attacks any more, but still retain an acute sensitivity to light.

Considering what is going on in your life, I would imagine that it is stress caused, but you should be certain about that.

Whistle your post count up as high as you like Berk but aura symptoms without headache and increased frequency all point to something far more serious than migraine.

Quote
When to see a doctor

It is possible that migraine symptoms are caused by something more serious. See a doctor if you experience any of the symptoms below.

Aura symptoms without a headache.

A sudden change in the character of your migraine such as attacks coming more often, or treatment not working.
