That Jap earthquake

Just watching the flood pics on the lunchtime news. Fook me  eeek:

ANd it has affected their nuclear power stations too. It seems one refuses to shut down  scared2:

Waiting for the first tree hugger to start spouting about global warming  noooo:

YIKES! A mahoosive wave is travelling across the Pacific at 600 mph  eeek:

Glad I live on top of a hill  scared2:

It's not a pretty sight and the reactor is apparently very hot.  A nice bit of global warming going on in a very small place.

Indeed but the Japanese economy is much stronger than Haiti and corruption is not nearly so much of a problem.  It's still going to be tough going for them though.

I watched some footage this afternoon - mesmerizing in many respects how pitiful we look against the forces of nature. Utterly terrifying and tragic though for those that are in it  noooo:

I was doing paperwork from just after 0500hr's with Skynews on in the background when the first reports were coming in a little later and I saw some of the early footage. I've been in meetings all day and wasn't aware of just how much worse it got. As Miss D said, the footage was mesmerizing, and it was hard to comprehend that in all that debris, vehicles, and building I was watching were many bodies, truly tragic

When I heard about the tsunami I expected to see a flood of new material on here,but its just been wave after wave of old jokes being tossed around.......

Normally I'd be watching rugby on TV at this time on a Saturday morning. The extraordinary footage and latest news coming through from Japan is so sad, and with two nuclear power stations affected and the possibility of one of them going into meltdown, along with aftershocks of up to 6.8 this could get so much worse. Poor sods
