http://road.cc/content/news/146557-easyjet-apologise-cycling-club-after-16-bikes-are-left-flight-annual-training

This happens every year at about this time. An A320 simply cannot hold that number of bikes.  The easyJet booking website should be cleverer than it is. I'm surprised that only 16 were left behind - the loaders did a great job to get the rest of the bikes and the bags on, it must have been totally rammed.  We have mentioned this to easyJet before...

The planes to Cyprus seem to fit all the bikes on....... whistle:

Oh, and Im getting a bit annoyed at the way the BBC are covering the Germanwings crash by constantly referring to it as "budget airline Germanwings...".

Are they implying that the airline is less safe than, say BA, because it is "budget"? That those on board were taking a chance by flying on it? All "budget" means nowadays is that you don't get a complimentary G&T and stale sandwich. The maintenance of the aircraft is just as good as that of the "premium" carriers.  evil:

Bikes shouln't be on planes full stop. If you want to persue your ridiculous, non-combustion engine, mode of transport, then simply hire one when you are there and boost the local economy. easyJet's problem is they fly A319/A320s - and you can get the bikes in their big plastic boxes into the holds due to the large hold doors. You can't get them into a Boeing 737 as the hold doors are too small. So that rules out Ryanair, Thompson, Norwegian and some BA planes from Gatwick. easyJet are simply overrun as a result.
