The MedView flight left late (again) last night and 609 bags DIDN'T travel. 1128 did.
Everyone at Gatwick is thoroughly pissed off with this airline, apart from the CEO - apparently the passengers spend so mucg in duty free that he insists that it is kept open until the last passenger has boarded...
Last night 70 passengers DIDN'T board as the flight had been oversold. Cue riots at check-in and mass attendance by Sussex police.
Until today, no flight has been delayed due to me sending the bags out late. Today, 12 were delayed.
I phoned the overall Baggage Manager at 0830 and told him we were about the run into a stinking pile of shite unless we had more staff. He turned up, along with both Duty Managers, the Ramp Manager, a Ramp Duty Manager and three blokes from the ramp. And still all the bags went out late - by up to 50 minutes. Appalling.
By the time they left 3 hours later, they were totally knackered and were muttering about "we really need to resolve this headcount issue..."
No shit. The next 3 days of my shift promise to be exactly the same. Merry fucking Christmas
