CCTV of entry to the Terminal.

It may surprise some that the occasional passenger actually brings these through (and then probably tries to claim from the airline or insurance company)

Splendid!  Thumbs:

How long do you have to wait at the carousel before claiming they have been lost / stolen ?

Until they turn it off is my usual time.

Most annoying time was went to the relevant desk, queued and then they said "oh yes we sent it through on an earlier flight, look over there"
Well, whatever, nevermind

Completely against IATA rules ~ it constitutes an un accompanied bag, which is a huge no-no.

Yep even then that wasn't right.  But I'm talking ~1990 Seattle to Denver flight

I have had other cases go misdirected and then sent on via later flights.  As a rule avoid checking your bags if you are connecting via different terminals at Heathrow, Charles de Gaulle or worsest of the worst JFK.  You could give a chimpanzee an etch-a-sketch and it'd design better airport layouts than those.

It is a deeply unpleasant airport.  If anyone wants to see how an airport should be designed for passenger ease, go to Atlanta

Atlanta is amazingly organised but mahoosive...Still they have the transport in place to take you around it with ease as many are there for connecting flights.

JFK is just pants...disorganised, arsey staff and serious lack of facilities !
