Anyone else been following this? I have it on in the background most afternoons/evenings.
Still undecided if I really like this form of cricket  rubschin:
Deffo prefer Test Match format.

I prefer to watch the test matches. However, like most sports, they need to generate some income in order to keep up with the others.

I do now see people in the pub watching the shorter form who would have never stayed to watch the longer format. It seems to be attracting a new following.

The game needs to move on I guess. I also think the game has benefitted from the new slogging approach, it was not that many years ago that in a limited over match that the commentators would start to 'worry' that the required run rate was "nearly a run per ball"  eeek: Today that does not seem to trouble the batting side too much.

Players seem to be specialising in the different codes. I think we now have three different England captains.

More money should attract more players and hopefully the standard of cricket in general should improve.

Totally agree!

My worry, if I have one, is that 20/20 will take over and put paid to those lazy days, sitting outside a sun-soaked pavilion, pint of bitter in hand, looking forward to a traditional lunch, bottle of red and a snooze in the same chair in the afternoon before waking up to see the after tea session.

I notice that very few of the English team (one I believe) are out there this year following on from that ridiculously long tour "down under" and with an equally difficult summer ahead. All bought about, I suspect, because the TCCB were annoyed that the Injuns got in first with their IPL so they agreed to a 7 month long tour full of meaningless "day" matches and a burst of 20/20 when our players were all knackered.

Yes indeed 3 Captains, one for each "variety" of the game. Not ideal but I can see why Strauss feels it's time to take a step back ~ he doesn't have that many years left at the top of his game.

PS: This is what "they" have committed to over 2011/2012. Unbelievable grab for money.
