The presence of the same detective on both cases precludes any notion that the similarities in the cases have been overlooked.

It may be safely assumed then, that the police are sensitive to the accusations made of the first and keen to avoid parallel with the the second.

Everyone has skeletons in their cupboards if you look hard enough...   even the police.

Often them more than most.

Statistically, taking each occupation as a single group:
Doctors are the heaviest abusers of Alcohol and Drugs
Part Time Fire Officers are most likely to be Arsonists and strangely Peeping Toms/Flashers
Police Officers are more likely than any other single profession to be wife beaters (The modern term being Domestic Abusers)

Please don't demand sources as I cannot provide them ~ I was told this years ago, when I worked in security, by a very senior member of the Home Office. The comment about Firemen was confirmed later by several investigations we had to carry out into various incidents at a number of North London Hospitals and the fact that two out of the three GPs at my local surgery are barred from every pub in the area speaks for itself. As for Policemen ~ speak to any bobby's wife and she will be able to confirm that her husband's colleagues are too often free with their fists at home.

I see they are planning a major advertising campaign to find her?

With a million pounds in the bank I think they?d garner more sympathy if they expanded it a little and did something worthwhile to trace all missing children, not just Maddy?  noooo:

I suspect that will happen in time. At the moment they will be hidebound by the rules of the Charity and anyway it will be for the trustees to decide. Charity laws are very specific on the uses that money given for a particular purpose may be put to. To do anything else would, at this time, be a clear breach of the law and many hoops will need to be jumped through before they could do that. It is not their money at this stage.

rubschin: I see most of the "Sundays" now seem to have "come back on side" and are rubbishing the Portuguese Police and the whole Napoleonic Judicial Code again.

I think you're being harsh on goats!

Perhaps Branson was the mystery witness.

'I was ballooning over a Portugese church one day...'

As an aside, not that I care one jot, is Branson a shirtlifter?  I find it unthinkable that someone of his cash has not been in the paper for inability to rise to the ocassion with a prozzie or kiddyfiddling.  What's your vice record boy?

So, now we know. Branson lifts shirts in his spare time. Thanks Berek.
"Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Well, someone had to say it!

The fact that he didn't try it on with you is hardly a cast iron snigger guarantee of his heterosexuality. ::)
