The presence of the same detective on both cases precludes any notion that the similarities in the cases have been overlooked.
It may be safely assumed then, that the police are sensitive to the accusations made of the first and keen to avoid parallel with the the second.
Everyone has skeletons in their cupboards if you look hard enough... even the police.
Often them more than most.
Statistically, taking each occupation as a single group:
Doctors are the heaviest abusers of Alcohol and Drugs
Part Time Fire Officers are most likely to be Arsonists and strangely Peeping Toms/Flashers
Police Officers are more likely than any other single profession to be wife beaters (The modern term being Domestic Abusers)
Please don't demand sources as I cannot provide them ~ I was told this years ago, when I worked in security, by a very senior member of the Home Office. The comment about Firemen was confirmed later by several investigations we had to carry out into various incidents at a number of North London Hospitals and the fact that two out of the three GPs at my local surgery are barred from every pub in the area speaks for itself. As for Policemen ~ speak to any bobby's wife and she will be able to confirm that her husband's colleagues are too often free with their fists at home.
