Been to John Lewis ....confirmation the screen is gubbed   noooo:

However sat down with her at her ' technical services customer support ' desk and her computer wouldn't work.

She said I am not the luckiest person  surrender:

Been sent away to the tech doctors now.

Meanwhile I have given a voucher for a meal and drinks for 2 in John Lewis

You live that close to the city center then?

I just assumed the brat was with you when you said a drink and meal for two.

All fixed now then? rubschin:

I've 'ed this owld Dell steam driven thing since early '04.... or was it '03 even? rubschin:

Apart from the occasional struggling fan when it's too 'ot like and the original screen gubbing itself within the first week, and a odd blue line that vanished after a few weeks, it's been the absolute dogs bollox, and it still going strong even now.

It's been sent away ...2 to 4 weeks for repair they guesstimate.

I don't live that close to centre but early on a weekend roads and tubes are not busy and haven't had the chance to get disrupted yet.
